Police Department Updates
Lieutenant Woo: greater police presence at Texas Beach; major operations (including one water landing) led to many arrests earlier, fewer at the most recent sting; alcohol, off-leash dogs, and open containers enforced. Nudity case (“The Yeti”) went to court—report if seen in city parks.
Eight stolen vehicles found in the neighborhood in the past month; stolen-car contents dumped near the skate park.
5th District and Maymont Updates
Parker Agelasto: re-election campaign; neighborhood clean-ups, sidewalks, school/park budget issues, delinquent taxpayers. Credited Parke Richeson with helping obtain 18 summer scholarships for John B. Cary students for Maymont programming.
Marcia Davis (RRHA): 33 homes to Habitat/Project Homes and 33 to auction pending HUD approval; nonprofit ownership/resale in the neighborhood. List on Civic League website.
Parke Richeson and candidates gave short updates at the start of the meeting.
Leah Page-Jean and Skate Alliance updated on Riverview Community Park; Parker discussed easement progress, Kiwanis and partners, possible October start for footprint; skate expansion may require easement changes.
