Police Department Updates

  • Officer Kinney (3rd Precinct) recapped crime: overall crime down about 48% in the neighborhood year over year. A Community Watch Program was coming; Lt. Marshall’s business cards were available. Andrea Levine asked next steps; Officer Kinney said he would start the process and neighbors did not need to do anything yet.

  • A neighbor near the Texas Beach / North Bank Trail entrance raised late-night visitors, fast traffic, and an incident where someone was assaulted after trying to close the parking lot gate. Officer Kinney noted summer enforcement (open containers, public drunkenness).

5th District and Maymont Updates

  • Councilman Parker Agelasto reported: City Council voted to apply for federal funds for new sidewalks (discussion of extending reach to save large trees); about $8,000 planned for traffic calming with alternating/additional stop signs; Riverview Community Park on hold pending conservation easement / “portion of a parcel” including Texas Beach parking lot. RRHA “scattered sites” discussed at Randolph Civic League that night. Alley clean-up (rained out November 3) not rescheduled for winter. Bulk pickup backed up; work with Councilwoman Ellen Robertson on “dump and demand”; illegal dumping fines. See Click Fix revamp for faster routing.

General Community Notes

    • Thanksgiving poem from Gloria Bouldin; minutes and treasurer updates (Leah temporarily locked out of Premier Bank; balance forthcoming). Daria Christian: $95 in dues collected at the meeting. (September minutes and treasurer detail were posted to the website afterward; ending balance reported by email $5,668.20 after deposits and withdrawals.)
    • Remembrance Committee: Gayle Turner seriously ill in hospital; requested prayer.
    • Thanksgiving baskets: motion passed (Andrea Levine) to contribute $100 to the Food Bank (~500 meals); Leah Page to pay from the Civic League account.
