Police Department Updates
A wanted poster was circulated for a Georgia Avenue area resident recently arrested for stealing license plates and vehicle break-ins; he had been released on bond.
5th District and Maymont Updates
John Nicholson of Maymont Park read a memo from Norman Burns: plans for the horticulture building were halted until further neighborhood meetings.
Ryan Rinn, Storefront for Community Design, described a possible $500 round-table with interested members on traffic calming, bike safety, and sidewalks, plus about $500 for drafting documents.
General Community Notes
- Minutes from the March 16 meeting were read by Libby Germer.
- Mark Brandon and Financial Secretary Daria Blom were absent; a memo from Mark on the Maymont Foundation’s building plans was distributed.
- Treasurer’s report: Leah Page-Jean reported an ending balance of $4,433.20 (minutes also showed a typo “$4,4383.20”).
- Skate park / community garden: a $750 Keep Virginia Beautiful grant was awarded toward raised beds and plantings for the new community garden.
- Other business: Gayle Turner raised parking concerns on her street related to Texas Beach traffic. Mike at 1805 Greenville Avenue needed petitions signed within 150' regarding a tall fence (city ordinance limits height).
- Continuing business: March motion reserved $300 to recognize longtime leaders; Kent Eanes might still organize an event.
